We had a number of complications, however the build is complete! Now it needs an aviation themed name.
Final specs:
PSU - The Thermaltake PSU was missing parts, so we upgraded (for the same price) to an EVGA 750W 80 Gold Plus.
C PU - i3-8100 quad core.
Case - Corsair Spec-Omega RGB
RAM - Patriot Dual Channel 16GB
MB - Gigabyte H370M D3H
SSD - M.2 Samsung Evo 250 GB
HDD - A WD 1TB I had l aying around.
GPU - MSI RTX 2070
I then tossed in my trusty PCI- E wifi module.
Cable management by Madame DeLorean!
For future upgrades I’d love an i5 or i7 coupled to a RGB AIO cooler. The actual build log will be written up and posted to pcp artpicker when I have the time.
If you happen to read this, I love you so much! <3

Whelp, give me a bit before I can build something that rivals yours. A 2070 is a pretty wicked card, though.

I got an Asus RoG something er other for VR, VR gave me a headache, sold VR. It’s fast as fuck, that’s all I know. But yours has shiny lights and looks like TRON so that’s cool, I assume it’s fast.

Nice build! I just built myself a new workstation with a Ryzen 5 and a 1070 that I use mostly for 3d modeling and VM work so the better muli-core performance won out for me.
Question on your new handle - what’s the N + 1 referring to? In my world that’s a reference to a occupancy restriction in place for a physical area controlled by card access. Lik e only 2 people can ever be in the room, no more, no less.
Also I love you too! I hope you get to enjoy the holidays with those you hold dear to you!

Nice! Except in some very specific things, I doubt you will be especially hobbled by the i3-8100. The fact that the i3's are quad-core now is a really big boost for them.
I remain unconvinced by AIO coolers, I get the sense that pump quality isn’t great, leading to both potentially more noise, and difficult and/or expensive replacement. I’m pretty happy with my giant heat-pipe setup, except for the part where it doesn’t exactly fit .

My first idea for this was Ryzen! I loved the Ryzen 1300X machine I used to have. In the end we went with Intel because the MB selection for team blue was better at Fry’s.
N+1 is the formula for the correct number of motorcycles to have in your stable. N = your current amount of motorcycles.
<3 I hope you get to have a splendid holiday as well!!!

Nice! I kind of agree with you that in the long run, Intel is actually better for a budget gaming build. Since their higher end chips are proportionally better for gaming as you move up.
So by the time your i3 is old, you’ll probably be able to pick up i7s from that gen for dirt cheap and be good for a long while.
I’m kind of wondering what I’ll upgrade to from my Ryzen 3 1200. Apart from a second gen 5, any upgrade seems either pointless, or not cost effective for gaming. Since the 7s are hardly better than the 5s for gaming.
I might just get a beefy air cooler to try to oc some more. Since I sorta lost the silicon lottery, or the internet exaggerated the 1200 oc capabilities.

lol I’m in IT so that is number of components you need plus 1 for failover. I like your version better

Ha! T hat’s perfect and just how I think on motorcycles! I have 13 counting parts bikes and still have cl alerts for bikes :)
Ive been very impressed with the Ryzen 5 2600 so far. M icrocenter had a great selection of boards and I got a B350 board in it, allows over clocking. Also cost me about $150 less than an i5 setup.
